NSE F&O EXPIRY · WEEKLY + MONTHLY · LIVE COUNTDOWN

F&O expiry calendar — every expiry, in one place.

SEBI staggered the weekly expiries across five days so no single day sees all the derivatives settlement pressure. Here's the complete live schedule for every NSE index + stock-F&O contract, with holiday-shift handling (when the natural expiry falls on a trading holiday, it moves to the previous trading day).

Computed from SEBI staggered-expiry schedule + NSE holiday circulars · as of Live — countdowns refresh on page load. Curated reference — verify against the authoritative source before making any investment decision. Refreshed periodically, not continuously.

The staggered expiry rule

NIFTY 50 (Thursday)
Bank Nifty (Wednesday)
Nifty Fin Services (Tuesday)
Nifty Midcap Select (Monday)
Nifty Next 50 (Friday)
Stock F&O (last Thursday of month)

Weekly expiries settle at 15:30 IST on expiry day. Monthly expiries = last weekly of the month. Stock F&O contracts don't have weeklies — they only expire on the last Thursday of each month.

What happens on expiry day

  • Open positions settle at closing spot — options in-the-money at 15:30 IST are automatically exercised; out-of-the-money expire worthless.
  • STT on sell side only — ITM options get hit with 0.125% STT on intrinsic value (buyers pay this, not writers). Major reason retail often skips holding ITM calls to expiry.
  • Physical settlement for stock F&O — any open stock future or ITM option position delivers/receives actual shares. Close them by 14:30 IST on expiry day or keep enough margin for delivery.
  • Cash settlement for indices — NIFTY + Bank Nifty + Fin Services + Midcap Select + Next 50 are cash-settled. No delivery risk.

F&O is leveraged; SEBI FY25 study found 91% of retail lost money.
