SIP calculator — how much your monthly SIP becomes.
A proper SIP calculator — monthly investment, expected return, tenure, annual step-up, and inflation all in one view. Shows the raw future value, total invested, wealth gained, and what that future amount is worth in today's rupees after inflation.
Your SIP inputs
Read-out
A SIP of ₹10,000/month for 15 years at 12% CAGR grows to ₹50.46 L. You'd invest ₹18.00 L across the period; the remaining ₹32.46 L is compounding growth. Adjusted for 6% inflation that's ₹21.05 Lin today's rupees.
The SIP formula
FV = P × [((1 + r)^n − 1) / r] × (1 + r) P = monthly contribution r = monthly rate = (annual rate / 100) / 12 n = total months = years × 12
This assumes SIPs happen at the start of the month (standard for most AMCs). The outer (1 + r) factor accounts for that. For end-of-month SIPs, drop the outer factor.
Why step-up matters
If you SIP ₹10,000/month for 20 years at 12% CAGR, you end with ~₹99 lakh. Step up 10% every year and the same ₹10,000 starting SIP becomes ~₹1.6 crore — a 60% improvement from one tweak. Your salary grows, so should your SIP.
Most AMC platforms (Kuvera, Zerodha Coin, Groww, MF Central) support automated annual step-up. Set it once when you start your SIP — no need to manually increase every year.
Inflation — why the "real" number matters
₹1 crore in 20 years at 6% inflation is worth about ₹31 lakh in today's rupees. Nominal future values look impressive but what you can actually buy is what matters. Always run long-term goals against inflation — the default 6% matches India's 20-year CPI average. Use 4% for essentials, 8%+ for education + healthcare which inflate faster.
