One weighted bias score tells you whether today's NIFTY is set up to gap up, gap down, or open flat.

How the bias score works
Weighted average of the % change across each group:
- • Gift Nifty (weight 0.45) — the single best proxy for NIFTY open. Historically ~85% correlation with the first 15-min NIFTY move.
- • US close (weight 0.25) — Nasdaq leads IT stocks, S&P/Dow lead broader sentiment.
- • Asia open (weight 0.15) — Nikkei + Hang Seng reflect Asia-hours risk appetite.
- • Indian ADRs (weight 0.15) — IBN (ICICI Bank), HDB (HDFC Bank), INFY, RDY (Dr Reddy's), WIT (Wipro) — direct overnight price of our own names.
Absolute score > 0.5 = strong gap setup. 0.2–0.5 = mild directional bias. Below 0.2 = flat open likely.
Why Gift Nifty replaced SGX Nifty
SGX Nifty migrated to NSE IFSC at GIFT City, Gujarat in July 2023 under a SEBI-SGX MOU. Same underlying (NIFTY 50), same 6:30 AM – 11:30 PM IST trading window, but fully India-regulated. "Gift Nifty" is the current name and the only active contract — SGX Nifty legacy futures are discontinued.
